Allied Telesis' AT-2916T is a highly reliable entry-level 32-bit
Gigabit Adapter card with 9KB Jumbo frames support. A great product for
your network upgrade needs. The adapter supports the calculation of
TCP, UDP, and IP checksums through the hardware platform without time
loss by the MAC controller for both the receive and the transmit path,
which lead to overall system performance improvement. In addition, in
order to reduce the load on the CPU, Allied Telesis' s AT-2916T can use
interrupt moderation to group the huge amounts of interrupts caused by
small packets transferred at Gigabit speed so that several data packets
can be handled per interrupt. Allied Telesis' AT-2916T Gigabit Ethernet
Adapter comes with a variety of reliability features. They aim at
maintaining a connection as long as possible. This is reached by link
aggregation; redundant switch failover and PCI hot plug. The on-board
sensors and driver functions help to monitor the health of adapters and
their ports enabling pro-active network management. Allied Telesis'
AT-2916T adapter cards come with a set of software programs that can
greatly assist users with their network setups and configurations. The
offline user diagnostics program provides system administrators and
engineers with a profound tool to analyze the network adapter and check
specific data. The Network Control program for Windows 2000 and Windows
XP provides user an easy time in controlling and configuring all their
AT-2916T adapters. The AT-2916T Gigabit Ethernet Adapters can also
support up to 64 IP address assignments in a single network connection
by the means of frame tagging. Thus, multiple VLANs can be configured
for one port. The VCT program can detect and report potential cabling
issues such as cable opens, cable shorts or any impedance mismatches in
the cable. It can accurately locate the distance to the cabling fault
within a tolerance of one meter. This capability will enable the users
or IT staff to quickly identify the failing mechanism and isolate the
source of the problem.
