Product Description: The iConverter 100FF manageable media converter is a member of the modular iConverter product family. It provides single-mode to multimode fiber conversion and is a cost-effective solution to extending network distances by connecting multimode fiber network devices over single-mode fiber cabling. The multimode fiber port supports SC connectors and distances up to 30km. The 100FF features user-selectable Link Propagate, Link Segment and Remote Fault Detection modes to facilitate quick fault detection, isolation, and reporting. Like all iConverter modules, the 100FF is hot swappable and supports three mounting options. It can be mounted in a 19-Unit, 2U (3.5 inch) high, space-saving 19-inch rack-mountable chassis with any combination of triple-redundant AC or 48VDC power supplies. It can also be mounted in a 2-Unit AC or 48VDC powered chassis or in a 1-Unit AC powered chassis. Management is accomplished by using an optional SNMP Network Management Module (NMM), which is capable of managing 16 chassis using a single IP address. The NMM can be accessed via Telnet or by using Omnitron’s NetOutlook™ SNMP-based management software or any other SNMP-based software package. The intuitive NetOutlook network management software provides network administrators with real-time detailed port and module information as well as parameter configuration and event monitoring. NetOutlook can be used as a stand-alone application under Windows 9x/ME/XP/NT/2K or integrated with applications such as HP OpenView™. Using NetOutlook, the user can configure switch-selectable static parameters. The configurable parameters on the iConverter 100FF include Link Propagate (Link Loss Carry Forward) or Segment and Remote Fault Detection. By using the software management system, these parameters can be configured to override the module’s physical switch settings.
