Product Description: The ADTRAN ISUâ„¢ 512 is a standalone ISDN Service Unit that connects data terminal equipment to the ISDN network. The ISU 512 is a basic rate inverse multiplexer that provides cost-effective high speed data transmission for a single application at rates up to 512kbps. The ISU 512 is specifically designed as a low cost solution for applications such as videoconferencing, T1/E1 backup, LAN/WAN connectivity, high-speed file transfer, and audio broadcasting. The ISU 512 uses Basic Rate ISDN (BRI), a low cost public digital network service. Data terminal equipment is connected directly to the ISDN network using the ISU 512 and up to four Basic Rate ISDN lines. Two 64kbps B channels are associated with each BRI line. By terminating up to four BRI circuits, the ISU 512 can create aggregate bandwidth of up to 512kbps. Since ISDN is a switched digital service, this bandwidth, or a portion of the maximum bandwidth, can be established and utilized on an as-needed basis. Therefore, the ISU 512 is well suited for applications where a high bandwidth connection is needed to support bursty or infrequent traffic, like videoconferencing, medical image transfer, or disaster recovery. The ISU 512 may utilize either the RS-530 or V.35 DTE interface and supports synchronous data rates from 56Kbps to 512Kbps. At rates over 64Kbps, the BONDING Mode 1 inverse multiplexing protocol synchronizes data using from one to eight 64Kbps B channels. By supporting BONDING, the ISU 512 interoperates with other BONDING-compatible inverse multiplexers and ISDN terminal adapters. The ISU 512 can be configured and maintained, locally or remotely, using a VT100 terminal interface. For remote configuration, the unit can be accessed over the ISDN line or externally through the CHAIN IN port on the back panel of the unit. Dialing from the unit is accomplished by using the front panel, stored numbers, DTR assertion, or V.25bis in-band dialing. The RS-366 parallel dial interface is available for applications such as videoconferencing. The ISU 512 is designed to operate in a dual port mode for videoconferencing at 112/128kbps. This allows end-to-end compatibility when communicating with a video system utilizing two Switched 56 DSUs or a dual port ISDN terminal adapter. For this application, 56/64kbps is transmitted over the V.35 interface and the RS-530 interface. An RS-530 to V.35 adapter is available to provide the necessary V.35 interface for the second port. A special RS-366 Y cable provides the two RS-366 interfaces for this application. For convenience in communicating with multiple video sites, the ISU 512 can be configured to transparently switch between the dual port mode at 112/128kbps and the single port mode of 384 kbps without user intervention and reconfiguration of the unit. The front panel of the ISU 512 consists of a two-line by 16 character LCD display, seven LEDs, and a 16-button keypad. This allows for configuring, dialing, testing, and monitoring of the unit without a data terminal or test equipment. Features: ISDN Inverse Multiplexer supports up to 512Kbps for single application S/T Interface; supports Bonding Mode 1 standard I-Mux; separate V.35 and RS-530/RS 232 DTE interface; RS-366 Dial interface Auto ranging power supply, 90-250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, with IEC connector on base unit Power cord with appropriate plug type must be obtained by the customer CE Marked for EU Countries Only |
