The cluster system may be cascaded into a single closet with a 19-inch rack-mounted cabinet solution (available as an accessory), or spread out campus-wide via EIA-422 serial cabling or with an (optional) Fiber Link. In terms of distance, a concentrator may be extended up to 1,000 feet from the host via EIA-422 cabling or up to 1.25 miles (or 5 miles daisy-chained) via fiber cabling with no loss of performance. Each concentrator contains an 80186 processor to boost the signal speeds at 115kbps per port. Reducing downtime, thus increasing reliability, each port is protected by multi-strike surge suppressors and pass-through fault-tolerance.
