The CFT series of 100BASE-TX to FX converters were designed to overcome the limitations in operating solely on twisted pair cabling.

Canary’s CFT converters support 100Base-TX transmissions up to 100m and 100Base-FX transmissions up to 40Km in full duplex and 412m in half duplex.

Link Fault Signaling (LFS) gives the host (router, server, switch), attached to each end of the converter, critical information about the status of the other remote segment link. If either link fails the converter interacts with both hosts, making each instantly aware of the link fault. Either host can then execute preprogrammed, redundant transmission path selection. LFS is switch enabled and is available on all 100Mbps converters.

Canary converters support 10/100 auto-negotiation technology providing seamless connections every time. Full and half duplex operation is also supported and can be locked in either mode via a switch.
